Palma receives the award for the Best Airport in Europe

The director of Son Sant Joan, the Mallorcan Tomás Melgar, affirms that the award is the result of the daily effort of the entire team of professionals.

The Airports Council International (ACI) has awarded Palma airport the distinction of “Best Airport in Europe” in the category of 25 to 40 million passengers, as reported by Aena.

In 2021 it was already awarded for having the “Best Hygiene Measures” in Europe against covid-19 and last year, with the “The Voice of the Customer”, for its commitment to listening to passengers.

These awards are important, Aena points out, as they come from the assessments made by passengers in the ASQ (Airport Service Quality Programme) surveys requested by ACI.

The ASQ programme is a global benchmarking scheme in the airport industry that allows the service offered at each airport to be tested and compared with infrastructures of a similar size in the rest of the world.

These awards are based on the results of the ASQ surveys, which are carried out within this programme to measure passengers’ perception of service quality through questionnaires in which they rate their experience at airports in relation to aspects such as access, facilities, staff friendliness, security and waiting time at the security checkpoint. All participating airports use exactly the same methodology.
