Panic at Mallorca airport – Passengers jumped from the wing of the plane (video)

A faulty indicator on a Ryanair aircraft during preparations for takeoff from Mallorca airport triggered the fire alarm. Terrified passengers jumped from the wing of the aircraft, leaving 18 people injured.

The incident occurred on a flight from Majorca to Manchester. The majority of passengers evacuated the aircraft from one of the two wings, resulting in injuries when they hit the ground.

According to the Daily Mail, a total of 18 people were injured in the panic that broke out shortly after midnight on Friday, six of whom had to be taken to a nearby hospital for first aid.

In a statement, Ryanair referred to “minor injuries,” including some sprains. The same statement clarified that the panic was caused by a false alarm.

“The flight from Palma to Manchester interrupted the takeoff process due to a false fire alarm. During the evacuation, a small number of passengers were slightly injured and the crew requested medical assistance. To minimize disruption to passengers, we promptly scheduled a replacement aircraft, which departed from Palma at 7:05 a.m. on Saturday morning. We apologize to the passengers affected,” the Ryanair statement concluded.
